Facing Food Addiction: Part 7: The Dopamine Made Me Do It

Bring me the dopamine!!

Power From Inside

It turns out the first trainer I worked with to lose weight, Casey Marshek, now has her own business helping people live a healthy lifestyle.  Even though I have learned a lot about nutrition, I still need someone to help guide me and keep me on track.  I need the accountability.
With Casey’s help, I am eating THE HEALTHIEST I ever have in my life!  Little things make a big difference.  Everyone knows that processed food is “bad” but it’s hard to know how to reasonably make what is “good” without spending gazillions of dollars on food or taking too much time to cook.  At least it was for me.  She lives hundreds of miles away but with email and myfitnesspal, we keep in touch and she helps me stay on track.  Unlike a lot of trainers out there, she is vegetarian and can help you eat a balanced diet without meat but is also…

What happens if you fail?

I was talking with a good family friend today and she said, “I see that you are putting your weight loss battle out there on the internet for anyone to see, What happens if you fail?” I sat there for a minute thinking about how to express my thoughts. Finally I said, well when I fail, I am hoping that my friends will pick me up and push me past the failure. There will be a failure. Let’s face it, I’m 36 years old and like I have said before, I have ALWAYS been fat. I never had the skills to make good choices and stay healthy. I am re-training years of learning. It will take time, there will be up’s and downs, however I am confident that with the help of my friends and amazing family, I will overcome this.

Momentary failure is expected, total failure is unacceptable!

It’s no wonder I’m FAT! – Confessions.

Ok it’s confession time. There where times, oh well I’m being honest right, more times than not, I would stop off at Wendy’s on the way home from work and get a Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It always tasted so good. Spicy Chicken with American Cheese and pickles. Just thinking it about while I am typing is making me want one soooooo bad. Will power kick in please. Well I have stopped that bad habit! Thank goodness I did. I would eat the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and then go home to have a complete meal. The chicken sandwich it’s self isn’t what you call healthy, but adding a meal afterward helped me with the record weight gain.

Feels good to get that off my chest!

How much Protein should consume, daily?

While researching this topic, I have found several schools of thought. The one thing that has been consistent is that protein is helpful in weight loss and muscle building. The amount too is up for debate. Kashi offers a FREE online Protein Calculator. I am a 117g per day person. Take a look and see what you should be looking for.

Crazy for Crazy Bread? After you read the nutritional label, I bet not.

I have always LOVED Little Caesars Crazy Bread. I would finish an entire package by myself. Well that stopped today. Now that I am taking the time to look at the nutrional value of all the food i stick in my mouth, I am going to make better informed choices.

Take a look at the details. Keep in mind, this is PER BREADSTICK.

New Link to look up my information.

Please forgive me. I am new to this blogging thing. I am trying to develop a way to share information, stay motivated and not spend hours at the computer entering information. Over the last few days, I have been manually entering my weight / food etc, information into this blog page. Let me tell you it had been somewhat time consuming. The application I use to track my daily food (mynetdiary.com) also offers a blog page. I am going to continue this blog, however I will no longer be posting my meals, weights and body measurement individually on this blog. I will ask that you refer to MyNetDairy.com Nutritional Information .

For all of you that have provided feedback and encouragement, THANK YOU. You will never know how much it means to me to know that people are concerned with my success. Keep them coming. Please if you see an area that needs more attention, let me know. I have thick skin, I can take it.

Day 9 – 322.0 pounds – 52 pounds to go. OH NO I GAINED!!

OH NO – the dreaded weight gain. I was pretty surprised this am when I jumped on the scales. I have been steadily losing weight so when the scales barked at me this Morning with a gain, I really didn’t know what to think. The only difference to my routine yesterday was that I ate food (that I thought was the healthiest choices available) from restaurants. So now I guess that all restaurant food is bad and I need to refrain. Maybe one meal everyone once awhile, but defiantly not two in one day. I thought for sure that yesterday was going to be a big loss day. Calories where down, and not only did I work out at the YMCA (3 miles walking on the treadmill), but our family took a walk around the neighborhood last night before bed. Oh well no point crying over spilled milk. Time to grab the bull by the horns and take this thing back. Going to be a good day tater. Less in and more out. Headed to the Y in a bit and will really work this junk today.

I would like to thank all of you that follow the blog and have offered me encouragement. These valley’s in the weight loss game are the toughest and if it where not the support of my friends and family I would not be able to pull it through. THANKS AGAIN.
